Certified General Real Estate Appraiser

Iowa Appraisal is looking to hire a full-time Certified General Real Estate Appraiser to join our real estate appraisal team. Candidates should have a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license in good standing, possess proficient analytical skills, and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication ability, in addition to having experience appraising or reviewing appraisals of commercial and/or agricultural properties. This position will primarily focus on commercial real estate appraisal but may include agricultural appraisal work. Holding a professional designation from the Appraisal Institute or American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers is preferred, but not mandatory.
Appraiser responsibilities include:
Assist in the preparation of real estate appraisals or prepare real estate appraisals independently.
Utilize multiple valuation methods and approaches for properties of varying complexity.
Conduct market research, gather data and apply analytical techniques to subject properties/defined problems.
Coordinate with clients to gather and compile necessary information.
Maintain an organized system for managing client information and supporting documents to ensure accuracy and consistency of written conclusions.
Continuously develop and expand knowledge and understanding of real estate appraisal standards, concepts, and methodologies.
Work towards obtaining the education and qualifications necessary to earn a professional designation from the Appraisal Institute or American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers if one is not already held.
Desired skills/experience:
Commercial real estate appraisal and/or appraisal review experience is preferred. Candidates lacking this but having agricultural appraisal and/or appraisal review experience will be considered.
Financial analysis and DCF modeling experience is preferred.
Strong technical skills in mathematics, financial analysis, and financial modeling.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional presence.
Strong organizational abilities with a high level of accountability, capable of managing multiple tasks and adapting to shifting work priorities.
Respect for client confidentiality and upholding professional standards.
Location: 1707 High Street, Des Moines, IA 50309. Work will initially be primarily from the office, transitioning to mix of work from home and work from office (hybrid), if desired.
Salary level: Split fee, negotiable
Status: Full time, permanent
