Land Talk Weekly
In response to the need for up-to-date land price information - in real-time - Jim Rothermich created “The Land Talker" in the spring of 2016. Surveys published by various organizations have a time lag and can quickly become outdated. "The Land Talker" provides a means to keep current on land price information with this blog and his monthly newsletter. To get auction results as they happen, follow Jim on Twitter (@theLandTalker).

May ends with not enough auction activity to test the market. We must get the 2024 planting finished up. I think a few good days of sunny weather is all we need.
Iowa Land Auction Prices, May 18-24, 2024
There were two “no sales” this week indicating the market is still adjusting to current economic conditions. I am worried there could be a lot of re-plant this year with all the cool, wet weather. I am hearing there will be some preventive plant.
Iowa Land Auction Prices, May 11-17, 2024
Not much is happening right now with land auctions, but things do pick up a little in June. Wishing the rain would slow a bit to get this crop planted then come back in July and August.
Iowa Land Auction Prices, May 4-10, 2024
It was another week with not enough activity to test the market. Rain continues to slow planting, but hopefully we will get a run of good weather soon to finish it up. Iowa Land Auction Prices, April 20-26, 2024
There was not enough activity to test the market again this week, with four auctions. Wild weather brought rain over the weekend; the extended forecast indicates good planting weather ahead.
Iowa Land Auction Prices, April 13-19, 2024
There were only three auctions this week, not enough activity to test the market. We’re getting some much-needed rain across the state but still have a way to go to recharge soil profiles.
