Iowa Land Auction Prices, December 3-9, 2022
Posted on December 12, 2022 at 12:09 PM by Jim Rothermich
Sioux County takes top honors, again, with a sale at $24,000/acre. Honorable mention goes to Lyon County with three exceptionally high sales: Tract 1 at $23,450/acre, CSR2 67.7 (= $356/point); Tract 2 at $21,700/acre, CSR2 67.4 (= $340/point); Tract 3 at $21,900/acre, CSR2 67.1 (= $335/point). On a dollars per CSR2 point basis, these are extremely high prices. I know of only one other sale in the state north of $300/point. The market continues to be very strong in NW Iowa.
The 2022 selling season is winding down. Auction activity will be good next week, but then there will only be a few auctions between Christmas & New Years.
For those who may be meeting over the holidays about your family farm estate, do not rely on coffee shop talk about land values. Land market conditions have changed drastically, so have the facts.
