Iowa Land Auction Prices, March 12-18, 2021

Posted on March 22, 2021 at 9:48 AM by Jim Rothermich

There were only three auctions this week with Washington County topping the market at $12,100/acre. The number of acres going to auction this month is very disappointing. March 2021 is going to be down considerably from March 2020. This is a developing story as there was not a push of farms going to auction before planting time. We have a larger pool of buyers than a year ago with fewer acres to buy. The lack of acres coming to market is really getting the market out of equilibrium. When planting begins, it is off season for selling. There will be only a handful of farms going to auction and buyers will be very aggressive. Be prepared for incredibly high prices.

“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!”
