Iowa Land Auction Prices, February 5-11, 2021

In recognition of Abe Lincoln’s birthday, here’s a revisit of a farm sold two years ago that included 30 acres once owned by Honest Abe. This tract sold for $10,000/acre, a 43% premium above other tracts in that auction, showing that emotions matter. The sellers purchased these acres 30 years prior for $788/acre, equating to 8.83% appreciation per year. You can find articles written about this sale at http://bit.ly/2X6nMxd and http://bit.ly/2N9ezzF.
Currently, we had another week of solid prices, with Grundy County topping the market at $13,500/acre. The last part of February and all of March is scheduled for robust auction activity which will include some sizeable farms. Warmer weather is in the extended forecast.
“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!”
