Iowa Land Auction Prices, October 9-15, 2020

Posted on October 19, 2020 at 9:14 AM by Jim Rothermich

There were not many auctions this week, but what did sell sold well with the lowest $/tillable CSR2 point $120. One aspect of the ag land market I pay attention to but don’t normally report on is rural residential sales. Typically, this is a house and farm buildings separated from a larger parcel and marketed to a different set of buyers than those looking for farmland. According to my farm realtor contacts, this market is on fire. The demand for rural residential properties is as strong as it has ever been. Farm realtors are saying there are ready, willing, and able buyers wanting to move to rural areas. In fact, last week I watched an online auction exceed the realtor’s expectations by $70,000. This portion of the ag land market is something you don’t hear much about. I think it is worth talking about.

“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!”
