Iowa Land Auction Prices, October 2-8, 2020

It was a fairly active week for auctions and prices did not disappoint. There were very strong prices, even in severe drought and derecho-damaged areas. Harvest reports are coming in, and the common theme is though yields are not what was wanted, they are better than expected. This is good news as there was some added stress about yields before harvest. Another bit of good news is grain prices have rallied. A recent USDA crop report indicated fewer acres of corn and soybeans are being harvested than were indicated in last month’s projection. This was positive news for grain markets. The land market is responding to the good news.
