Iowa Land Auction Prices, March 13-19, 2020

Posted on March 23, 2020 at 9:39 AM by Jim Rothermich

Land auction activity is winding down for planting season with 469 acres auctioned, of which, 453 acres were tillable. With the COVID-19 situation, depending on the auction company, some live land auctions have been postponed or alternative methods, such as online only, are being used to negotiate price. Please check with the auction company as it is not business as usual.

Auction activity typically slows down this time of year for the new growing season. Farm realtors are saying there is still demand to buy and, so far, they have not seen any price softening from COVID-19. Right now there is not enough activity to know that for sure. Listing volume is seasonally slowing down but could even be slower with the uncertainty in the market. The lower supply for sale and pent up demand to buy land will be supportive to land prices.

“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!”
