Iowa Land Auction Prices, August 31- September 6, 2018

Posted on September 10, 2018 at 9:27 AM by Jim Rothermich

It was a very active week for land auctions with 3,607 acres being offered, of which 3,058 were tillable. The market continues to be very volatile. I had a realtor in Northwest Iowa say the market is up 5-10% in his area. I also talked to a realtor that said land prices have softened 5-10%. The table below indicates volatility, with some softening in certain areas of Iowa and some strengthening in others. Farmers were successful bidders for several of the strong sales. Several realtors told me they got the farm sold but really had to work to get bids. Very interesting market, currently. Auctions will be very active the next 30 days.

“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!” Please check back next week to see what the Iowa land market is doing.
