Iowa Land Auction Prices, July 6-12, 2018

Posted on July 16, 2018 at 9:25 AM by Jim Rothermich

There were only two auctions this week with 740 acres being offered, of which 715 acres were tillable. Both auctions met realtor expectations. There is not enough land being auctioned to test the market. Nervousness looms from lower grain prices, trade wars, and poor crops in certain areas of the Midwest. There is downward pressure on land prices due to severe drought and looming total crop failure (found 2-3 hours south and east of Des Moines), and too much rain with unplanted fields and large flooded areas (found 2-3 hours north and west of Des Moines).

“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!” Please check back next week to see what the Iowa land market is doing.
