Greetings!  Significantly fewer acres of land were offered at auction this week compared to last week’s results.  122 acres were auctioned, of which 80 acres were tillable.  All farms sold. Here are the highlights:

  • 54 acres sold in Plymouth County- $13,800/acre- 52 tillable acres- CSR2- 84.0
  • 28 acres sold in Clay County- all tillable- $11,500/acre- development land- Spencer, IA
  • 40 acres sold in Decatur County- sold in lump sum- $197,500- pasture farm improved with dwelling & outbuildings.

The annual Iowa State University Extension and Outreach cash rental survey has been released.  This annual survey of cash rental rates for farmland in Iowa shows nearly a five percent decline in 2017.  This is the fourth consecutive year of declines in cash rental rates.  The average cash rent in Iowa this year is at $219/acre.  The annual survey included nearly 1,500 responses from farmers, land owners, ag lenders, and realtors.
